Find the right penetration test

ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI, APRA

A small team. A clear reason to test.

Start with the application, customer requirement or release that matters most to your business.

You are launching or changing a product

For founders and small engineering teams releasing a SaaS platform, app or important feature. Check how accounts, permissions and customer data behave before release.

A customer or auditor needs evidence

For growing businesses facing a security questionnaire, enterprise procurement or an ISO 27001 or SOC 2-related request. Agree the scope and report requirements with the reviewer first.

You need to check your highest-risk system

For small businesses and SMEs that want to focus their budget on an important application or API. Define the boundaries clearly, including connected systems and anything left out.

Start focused. Know what comes next.

Manual checks explore whether a user can see another customer's data, bypass permissions or misuse a workflow. AI-assisted tools and scanners support the tester's work; they do not replace it.

  1. Agree the scope

Confirm assets, access, exclusions and a testing window before work begins.

  2. Test and communicate

Specialists validate findings and track test cases in a shared sheet so your team can follow progress.

  3. Report and fix

Receive an executive summary, severity ratings, evidence and remediation guidance. Agree retest arrangements for the fixes.

Test the systems your business relies on

Choose the relevant assessment, then define the assets, user roles and important functions in scope.

APIs

Check whether REST or GraphQL endpoints expose data or allow actions that a user should not be able to perform.

Mobile applications

Assess iOS or Android apps, including local data storage, communications and access to connected services.

What type of penetration testing do you need?

Before you book your first pentest

Straightforward answers about scope, cost, reports and what happens next.

Does every startup or small business need a penetration test?

No. The need depends on the information you handle, how your systems are exposed, changes to your product and any customer or audit requirements. A test is useful when you need an independent check of how an attacker could misuse an agreed system. It covers a defined scope at a point in time, rather than proving the whole business is secure.

Can we test one application rather than our whole business?

Yes. You can scope a test around one important application or API. Include the relevant user roles and connected services in the discussion so that the boundaries are clear. A narrower scope can reduce testing effort, but excluded systems will not have been assessed.

How can a smaller team budget for penetration testing?

Use the quote builder below to describe your service, testing approach and scope. You will need a work email to submit those selections and view the indicative estimate. The price depends on the required effort; confirm the final scope, inclusions and dates with Penva before booking.

For broader budgeting questions, see our Australian penetration testing cost guide.

Is this manual testing or an automated scan?

Penva uses human-led testing supported by appropriate AI-assisted and automated tools. Manual work checks authentication, permissions and business workflows, and validates the impact of findings. The team holds individual qualifications including OSCP and CREST certifications; these are not a claim of CREST company accreditation.

What do we receive, and can we use it for a customer or audit?

The report includes an executive summary, confirmed findings, technical evidence, severity ratings and remediation guidance. Penva also offers a letter of attestation. These can support a customer review or audit, but acceptance depends on the reviewer and the agreed scope; testing does not certify ISO 27001 or SOC 2 compliance.

The current fixed-price package includes a free retest within 60 days and a remediation walkthrough. Confirm these inclusions and the retest scope in your engagement terms. You can also read examples of previous engagements.

What happens after we request an estimate?

The builder records your scope and work email and returns an indicative estimate through the existing quote service. You can then provide specific requirements or book a scoping call. Penva confirms the assets, access, reporting needs and testing window before an engagement begins. Timing depends on the scope and availability.
